Nothing is hidden from God. So when I say “reveal” I don’t want you to think about it so literally. When we reveal something to God it is not to give Him knowledge of something He didn’t already know. It is to fully expose that thing to Him, surrendering it from your hands into His. One of the definitions from dictionary.com defines reveal as the following : “to lay open to view; display; exhibit.” This is exactly what God needs us to do in order for us to experience His true healing power. He’s not asking you to put your pain on display for the world but He wants you to put it on display for Him so He can fix it. A lot of times we put so much effort into suppressing our pain to help ourselves not feel it as well as to hide it from the world, that we end up trying to hide it from God as well. In doing that, we can’t give the burden of that pain over to God because we’re holding on to it. It is true that God can see the things that are on our hearts, and can answer prayers we were unable to voice (Romans 8:26), BUT that true healing that God wants all of us to experience requires an invitation from you. Just like you invited God into your heart so that you could receive the gift of redemption that I previously talked about, you need to invite Him into your heart so He can mend the pieces of it that are broken.
You think God wants to look down on you crying every night and leave you in your pain? No. He’s saying my child just give it to me! The bible says in Matthew 11 verse 28, “Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, an you will find rest for your souls, For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Take note of the words I have put in bold. How can He heal what we don’t reveal? If God knows all things there is no reason to hide what can never be hidden, to suppress what He can take away. Be real with God. If there’s anyone you can be transparent with it’s Him. He’s the best secret keeper and knows you better than you know yourself. Who knows His creation better than the creator? The bible also says , “Cast all your cares on him because he cares for you.” ( 1 Peter 5:7)
Keep telling yourself you’re over something, all the while still harboring the root of that pain in your heart. God will place you in a situation where He exposes that very thing to you. He wants to pluck the root of that thing up that you just refuse to give to Him. I’ve been there; pain from years ago dug up, ripped open within seconds. That was God telling me you’re not over it, I can see it and I want to remove it. That deeply rooted tree of ugliness and hurt and pain and rage I want to transform it. I want to make it beautiful. I want to use it for my glory.
Stop and think for a second, of something that has hurt you and is still hurting you. Acknowledge the fact that your’e not over it. Recognize suppressing the issue will not get rid of it. Then…..reveal it to the only one who has the power to heal it. Trust me He’s just waiting with open arms.
